TxSP’s Measles protocol includes:

  1. Students who are the most at risk.
  2. Symptoms and complications.
  3. Steps to be taken by the nurse, the campus administrator, and for those unvaccinated students.
  4. Photos of the skin, rash, and eyes showing symptoms.
  5. Prevention steps.
  6. Guidelines for the measles outbreak in Texas.

Accompanying documents, letters, and handouts include:

  1.  A document for the nurse to record student observations.
  2. Letter for Parents of the student suspected of having measles.
  3. A notification to all parents of students who may have been exposed.
  4. Two informational handouts for parents and staff.

One of our TxSP subscribing districts requested the development of a Vendor Confidentiality Agreement for vendors and contractors who work directly with students or have access to student records while performing their services.  The agreement provides guidelines for on-campus and off-campus.

The confidentiality agreement prohibits discussion of:

  1. Identity, behavior or student needs.
  2. Student records.
  3. Who to direct questions to.
  4. What to do when a breach of confidentiality occurs.

TxSP has started a new filing cabinet in the C&I Section for HS Graduation Requirements. The first filing drawer we have included is one on overall graduation requirements.

The second filing drawer provides the guidelines required to complete training and a test on interacting with the police when being stopped for a traffic violation. The protocol contains the instructional and curriculum requirements, a link to the TEA 16-minute video, and the teacher’s guide.

TxSP has provided a tri-fold for students to keep in their vehicles that covers:

  1. How to interact with police on a traffic stop.
  2. What to do when they are involved in an accident.

Although many public and charter school students have received training on interactions with peace officers this school year, TxSP encourages campuses to make the student handout available in print or posted on their website.

Watch the summer newsletters for more new protocols and documents coming in the C&I Section.
